The Philadelphia Orchard Project (POP) plants and supports community orchards across Philadelphia, focusing on fruit‑bearing shrubs and berry bushes like blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, elderberries, and currants. In addition to supporting the fruit production at community gardens throughout Philadelphia, in its own Learning Orchard, POP planted 156 berry bushes, shrubs, and fruiting vines, which provide both an educational hub and a haven for native and heirloom plants. These plantings yield fresh, nutritious harvests for neighborhood residents, support local food access, beautify urban spaces, and foster hands‑on learning in ecological orchard care.
